Frontman of the The Veils, band indie rock New Zealander based in London,Finn Andrews returns to Italy to present his recently released debut solo album. The musician will be Friday 26 July at South East Independent Music Festival at the De Monti Castle by Corigliano d'Otranto (LE) e Sunday 28 July a Calascio (AQ) for Soundscapes, concert series held at dusk in the fairytale setting of the Rocca Calascio.
Finn Andrews and his band, since their formation in 2002, have realised five studio albumsappeared in one of the episodes of the third season of Twin Peaks by David Lynch and have collaborated on soundtracks with directors such as Tim Burton e Paolo Sorrentino. After the release of their fifth album, Finn AndrewsDriven by personal reasons, including the end of a relationship, he decided to leave London for a while and go to New Zealand: here he devoted himself to writing something personal and individual, pages of sketches, lyrics and ideas that became his first solo album One Piece At A Time (Nettwerk, 2019), delicate and introspective work, published on 15 March.
"I was thinking about this record when I was writing one with my band and I knew that it would not fit perfectly into the world of The Veils.." He said Finn Andrews about his work."I had been writing the lyrics for the last three years and was both happy and obsessed with them. The songs felt like they were pissed off because I couldn't find a purpose for them and so I decided to leave London for a while and look for a new setting for them, in my home country of Auckland in New Zealand."
All ten tracks of the album were recorded at the The Lab from Auckland, and the arrangements were made by Andrews himself, who was supported by new musicians, some of whom will also follow him on the tour that will touch our peninsula: Cass Basil (low), Alex Freer (battery), Tom Healy (guitar), Reb Fountain e Nina Siegler (choirs).
