After the extraordinary public success in Budapest, Gateway to Space lands in South Africa, at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. The exhibition will be officially open to the public Wednesday 1 June and can be visited until Sunday 31 July.
Gateway to Space succeeds in putting the tools and technologies of man's great journey to conquer the Moon within reach for the first time. A great exhibition and a unique opportunity to admire the amazing collection of memorabilia, reproductions of missiles, space stations, clothing e accessories, meteorite particles and much morefrom the Us Space & Rocket Centre of Nasa. An opportunity not to be missed to feel part of the most incredible journey ever undertaken by man, the conquest of the Moon. A complete excursus starting from the first imaginary visions of Jules Vernewho wrote the book From the Earth to the Moon in 1865, passes through Wernher von Braun, a German scientist and engineer naturalised in the United States, considered to be the progenitor of the American space programme. A journey that continues with a section devoted to the space race, on both the American and Soviet sides, where the different approaches of the two superpowers of the time are also explored. The heart of the exhibition then lies in the large central hall, where magnificent and absolutely fascinating pieces can be admired up close. This section features elements of the spacecraft Sojuz and the space station MirSoviet side, elements of the International Space Stationwith the workshop Destiny which the public will be able to walk through, the faithful reproduction of the lunar rocket Saturn Vused to launch the conquest to the Moon and the cockpit of the Space Shuttle. A journey from the past to the future that of Gateway to Spacewith the in-depth study of the project Orion and the presence of the module designed to one day take man to Mars.
