One of the most original bands on the international bluegrass scene will be in our country for three unmissable dates: Thursday 1 March 2018 at Locomotiv Club in Bologna, Friday 2 March at the Quirinetta in Rome e Saturday 3 March at Serraglio in Milan. The Iron Maizespokesman for the cow punk in Italy, will open all three concerts. The project stems from the idea of revisiting some of the greatest hits in the history of Rock in all its eras and nuances, in a style that blends folk, bluegrass, country and western recordings. The characters on stage are Testa di Cane (voice and banjolele), La Contessina (fiddle and voice), Jack La Treena (banjo and voice), Lo Scollo (double bass), il Ragazzo Nutria (guitar) and Burrito (drums). Their show is an explosive mixture of irony, distinctive looks, hilarious hillbilly charisma, and above all a massive and energetic groove of their deep-rooted hard-core vein, passing through an innate attitude to Roots folk typical of the Southern United States. The Iron Maize have brought a genre to the main stream that is little known to the Italian public thanks to their participation in the ninth edition of X-Factorduring which they distinguished themselves as something absolutely alternative to previous editions, and gave identity to a style that until now was almost non-existent in Italy.
The Hayseed Dixie originated in 2000, when John Wheeler e Mike Daly They guzzled enough whiskey to sail a battleship from the Florida coast to Portugal and back, and then started strumming in John's studio. Having spent several years touring with various country bands, John had amassed a certain amount of recording equipment. So, when he and Mike realized in their drunken stupor that the Lost Highway of the Rev. Hank Williams and the Highway To Hell of the Bishop Bon Scott were actually the same strip of asphalt, the two were ready to document this sensational discovery. Now, 17 years and 14 albums later, the Hayseed Dixie are the undisputed creators of a new genre, the rockgrassafter the tribute albums to AC/DC e Kiss shines a new light this year thanks to Free Your Mind... And Your Grass Will Followthe band's new album, released last April on Hayseed Dixie Records.
