I Gov't Mulethe historic southern rock outfit led by Warren Haynesreturn with a summer date in our country. 10 July in Monforte d'Alba (CN) at the Auditorium Horszowski as part of the "Monfortinjazz 2014".
Few bands have built a reputation over time for making music in such an organic, honest and courageous way as the Gov't Mule. With 20 years of activity behind them, the group, led by the visionary singer and guitarist Warren Haynesreturns with the double album 'Shout!"published in September 2013 for the Blue Note Records.
The album, which is the first release after four years of silence, features, among others, guests such as Elvis Costello, Ben Harper, Glenn Hughes, Dave Matthews e Steve Winwoodwho, on the second CD, interpret the band's new songs in an alternative version. "Nobody has ever done this before, which is exciting," says the band's leader and founder. Warren Haynesbut it is even more so to listen to these artists singing our songs: their performances enrich each song with new ideas, energy and different meanings.
I Gov't Mule are one of the few rock 'n' roll bands with a jazz attitude, which is especially evident on stage, where the group launches into incendiary and inventive improvisations in which each musician is free to develop the themes of the piece performed in an unconventional way. This is a quality,
which distinguishes the best jazz, rock and blues records of the 1950s and 1960s, but which is largely absent from contemporary music.
The current formation of Gov't Mule includes the two founding members Warren Haynes (vocals, guitar) and Matt Abts (drums), the multi-instrumentalist Danny Louis and the bassist Jorgen Carlsson.
