GUITAR 3: SATRIANI -VAI- FRIPP CROSS GUITARS

Guitar 3 returns to Italy with a trio ready to blow any guitarist's mind: Joe Satriani, Steve Vai e Robert Fripp of King Crimson.
Four Italian dates with Vai and Satriani (the latter recently still on the record market with his new self-produced album "Is There Love In Space") who together have sold more than 9 million copies, while Robert Fripp with his King Crimson can boast double that number: this is the calling card of the 2004 edition of G3.

Since 1996, when Satriani asked his friend Steve Vai to accompany him on the first tour with Eric Johnson, G3 has established itself as one of the biggest guitar events of recent times. In the course of the 7 previous editions, some of the most talented 6-string masters currently around have performed, such as Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Michael Schenkerin addition, of course, to the fixed pair Satriani-Vai.

Between October and November 2003, the US tour (with Yngwie Malmsteen alongside the duo) sold out at every single stage. A live album was also extrapolated from this experience - Rockin' in the Free World -Epic - which Guitar Word Magazine listed as one of the 100 Essential Guitar Albums.

So now it will be Robert Fripp (in place of Malmsteen) who will complete the trio in the eighth G3 during the European tour (which started on 13 June at the Arrow Rock Festival in Lichtenvoorde, Holland). In this performance, the three guitar heroes reach the high artistic levels to which they have always accustomed us, both in the moments in which they are individually protagonists, and in the concluding jam session that sees them reunited on stage.

Satriani's combo consists of Jeff Campitelli (drums), Matt Bissonette (bass), Galen Henson (rhythm guitar). Vai's features Jeremy Coulson (drums), Tony MacAlpine (guitar/keyboards), Billy Sheenan (bass) and Dave Weiner (rhythm guitar). Robert Fripp offers a unique show in which he performs completely alone, without the support of the band. But surely the most anticipated moment of the show will be when the 3 guitar heroes will perform together, crossing instruments to deliver such thrilling pieces as Rockin' in the Free World by Neil Young, Little Wing o Voodoo Child of Hendrixian memory. Ben three hours and 45 minutes of unforgettable showin which technique will compete with heart.
