After their special date at Alcatraz in Milan, the Blues Pills are set to return to Italy in 2017 for two concerts of their Lady in Gold Tour. The Swedish band will be Tuesday 14 March at the Bronson in Madonna dell'Albero (RA) and Wednesday 15 March at the Miela Theatre in Triste; ticket info respectively at www.bronsonproduzioni.com and www.miela.it.
I Blues Pills were born in 2011: the singer Elin Larsson and the bassist Zack Anderson barely 20 years old decide to start a new musical experience and in no time, the two founders are joined by guitarist Dorian Sorriaux and the drummer André Kvarnström. The band debuted in 2014 with the eponymous album Blues Pills (Nuclear Blast), which placed fourth in Germany and reached the Top 20 in Switzerland, Austria and Finland. Both in the studio and live, the young quartet creates a truly unique and intense rock atmosphere, taking the audience back to the former glories of Aretha Franklin, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Cream thanks to the driving bass and drum lines along with Dorian Sorriaux's guitar solos, accompanied by Elin Larsson's incredible voice.
The band will be back in Italy to present their second album, Lady In Goldreleased last 5 August by Nuclear Blast. 10 new tracks for the American-Swedish-French quartet, which once again presents an intense rock atmosphere, powerful but at the same time mainstream. The very special album cover bears the signature of Dutch artist Marijke Koger-Dunham, already known for her work with Beatles, Cream and many other bands.
'Lady in Gold is a character that represents death,' explains Elin Larsson, 'we wanted to move away from the stereotype of the fierce reaper. Mystical and dark references echo throughout the album, spiritual-sounding odes, false messages of salvation from a deceptive messiah, emotional ballads. Lady in Gold was produced in Sweden by Don Alsterberg and contains all the essence of the Blues Pills.
