I Flaming Lips, a historic band from the stars and stripes of alternative rock, announce a single date in Italy Monday 30 January 2017 at Alcatraz in Milan. Presales will open on the Ticketone (online and at points of sale) to the 10 a.m. on Tuesday 6 September.
The line-up led by the charismatic figure of Wayne Coyne currently has 17 studio albums to his credit and countless collaborations, also in the non-musical sphere: just a few months ago, he announced his collaboration with the Few Spirits for the market launch of the Brainville Rye Whiskey, a special distillate signed by the band that will be available on the American market from next October.
In addition to these bizarre parallel projects, the Flaming Lips are famous for their live performances, characterised by special costumes and sets, inflatable balloons, puppets, video projections, light games, giant heads, confetti and, above all, what has been their trademark for years: a transparent plastic ball in which Wayne Coyne crosses the audience in the hall. All these details make their concerts absolutely unmissable, and in 2002 they brought Q Magazine to put them on the list "50 Bands to See Before You Die"..
The latest effort of the Flaming Lips è "Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz"., 23 experimental tracks co-written with the young pop star and made available to stream online. The album was described by Coyne as a combination of Pink Floyd, Porthishead and a reinterpretation of Cyrus' pop vision. According to rumours, the band is now working on a new album.
