Fresh from their tour and new album, the Sepultura announce an imminent return to Italy for a special occasion, the Metal For Emergency by Filago (BG)on Saturday 4 August, which promises to be hot. This is the seventh edition of the festival with free admission, hosted this year by the Filagosto Festivalone of the most important in Lombardy.
I Sepultura were born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1984 and quickly became a key player in the burgeoning underground thrash metal scene thanks to their original and explosive yet primitive and raw sound, which swept away all geographical preconceptions and added South America to the metal map with albums like Morbid Visions, Schizophrenia e Beneath The Remains. The exit of the frontman and founder Max Cavalera in 1997 could easily have brought down a less united team, but the recruitment of the new singer Derrick Green turned out to be a real masterstroke. During the last two decades the Sepultura have evolved and diversified, in a succession of albums that have added depth and variety to the line-up's catalogue. From the boundless euphoria of the first album with Green, Against (Roadrunner Records, 1998) to the acclaimed The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart (Nuclear Blast, 2013)the progress of the Sepultura has been constant and their artistic integrity reconfirmed. The current line up consists of Derrick Green (voice), Andreas Kisser (guitar), Paulo Jr. (bass) and Eloy Casagrande (drums) recently celebrated the band's 30th anniversary with a non-stop world tour that reconfirmed just how good the Brazilians are.
In 2017 the Sepultura release an album that promises to once again affirm their status as the standard bearers of world metal. Recorded with esteemed producer Jens Bogren (Opeth, Kreator, Ihsahn, Paradise Lost), Machine Messiah (Nuclear Blast) is not only the band's fourteenth studio album, but also their most complete work to date. Derrick Green. Extraordinarily rich in musical landscape but firmly rooted in the heavy metal spirit, it is clearly an album that the line-up has shaped with love, passion and determination.
