After opening pre-orders for the new work Echo Echo to be released in March, IAMX announces a new venture: an acoustic tour in special venues with seating, reflecting the intimate and personal nature of the forthcoming album, a collection of acoustic reinterpretations of the most famous songs by Chris Corner. Italian fans will have a unique opportunity to attend this show-event live: Thursday 23 April at Santeria Toscana 31 in Milan. I tickets will be available on Ticketone starting from 10 am of tomorrow, Friday 31 January.
Who has explored the unconventional world of Chris Corner was enchanted by its electronic yet down-to-earth sound, combined with exciting vocal performances ranging from dark, visceral tones to angelic falsettos. Sex, sweat, intense ballads and irresistible beats have become the trademark of IAMX. With Echo EchoCorner subverted all that. "I have always wanted to record an acoustic album. All my songs take shape from a guitar or a piano and only later become what you can hear on my records. This work is about stripping the songs of everything and going back to the roots of songwriting,' says Corner.
He taught himself to play the guitar as a child, inspired by his legends David Sylvian, Julian Bream and Simon & Garfunkel, Chris Corner became a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer as well as co-founder of the Trainer Pimps. Afterwards, Corner decided to pursue a solo career of his own as IAMXaegis under which he released eight albums; the ninth is precisely Echo Echo, created in collaboration with three-time Grammy-winning producer David Bottrill (Tool, Peter Gabriel, Muse) at Corner's studio in the Mojave Desert. "David and I decided to create a vocal and guitar album that had a very good production quality. To achieve this, we used effects, loops and overdubs. It was crucial to be able to transport this work to a live dimension, so the setup underwent constant adjustments to arrive at something that I can play on a stage without losing sonic complexity. The result is an intimate, powerful and often poignant collection of reinterpretations of the most famous songs by IAMX. The tour that will accompany the record release bears the characteristics of Echo Echo and winds its way through particular venues that emphasise the warmth and personal nature of this album.
