IAN HUNTER, former leader of Mott the Hoople, is back on tour after releasing his new album 'When I'm President', distributed in Italy by Family Affair. The album is recorded with The Rant Band, the same group that accompanied the English frontman on his first and only Italian date, when he took the stage at Milan's Alcatraz on 5 May 2010.
Ian Hunter, after leaving the quintessential glam band in 1974, never stopped releasing albums let alone touring, continuing the tradition that Mott the Hoople were the best live band of the 1970s. We don't say this, but the direct competitors of the time do: Led Zeppelin, Free and David Bowie, who wrote the memorable 'All the young Dudes' which brought them success in 1972. Mott the Hoople were also the first band to play in a Broadway theatre and boast the record of being the only artists to have had Queen as a special guest on one of their tours. Ian Hunter himself has always warded off any reunion (with the exception of a five-concert series in 2009), continuing a successful solo career, such as the last album 'Man Overboard', released in June 2009. The first album under the name Ian Hunter dates back to 1975, which was followed by nineteen more studio and live albums. 'When I'm President' is fresh from the press.
Joining him on stage will be The Rant Band in a trio version with Andy York (guitar) and Dave Roe (bass).
