Hard to believe that, at only 36 years old, Jonny Lang can look back on a successful career spanning two decades. The artist released his first solo album, Lie to Me (A&M, 1997), at only 16 years of age, earning a platinum disc and establishing itself as blues prodigy boywith his own style and a fresh, recognisable voice. Lang's earliest musical influences were artists such as Albert Collins, B.B. King and Buddy Guylater, its sound evolved and became more modern, a R&B close to Stevie Wonder and music contemporary gospel. Over the years, he has toured the world and has had the opportunity to share the stage with the Rolling Stone, the Aerosmith, Jeff Beck e Sting.
His seventh studio album, Signs (A&M - Provogue Records, 2017)It is a return to his roots, to the beginning of his musical career and to a minimalist sound. It consists of 11 tracks, recorded in Los Angeles, and features elements of funk, rock and bluesThis gives more weight to the raw sound of the guitar, which is emphasised compared to other instruments. "A lot of my early influences and listening as a kid came back to the surface and I wanted to collect them on this album. I appreciate unrefined music, the more raw and real. With these tracks I wanted to emulate and praise the holy monsters of blues music." He said Lang about his latest work. "Some songs are autobiographical, but usually not in a literal way. My main goal is for people to be able to relate to what I've been through. If I can't make my lyrics work using only my personal experience, then I use my imagination to fill in the blanks."
