After releasing his new album, the celebrated American guitarist, Tony MacAlpine, arrives in Italy at Bloom of Mezzago, Sunday 11 March 2012with a very prestigious line-up.
Tony MacAlpine, known for his instrumental virtuosity, first a leader in neo-classical metal and then in jazz fusion, releases a self-titled album, his thirteenth studio and solo album, released on 21 June 2011 by Favoured Nations. In this latest work, Tony MacAlpine, guitarist, pianist and skilful violinist, not only plays the six-string classical guitar, but also measures himself with seven- and eight-string guitars, as well as keyboards and bass. While the drum parts are played by the equally well-known Virgil Donati (already with him in Devil's Slingshot) and Marco Minnemann.
American multi-instrumentalist Tony MacAlpine, born in 1960, began studying classical music at a very young age. It was in the mid-1980s that he became famous as a guitar and piano virtuoso at the same time as the explosion of guitar heroes such as Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert, at first approaching a neo-classical rock genre and later, fusion and jazz.
He began his solo career in 1985 and has thirteen studio albums to date. But in addition to his solo career, Tony MacAlpine boasts important collaborations with Steve Vai, M.A.R.S., Planet X, Cab, Ring Of Fire, Vinnie Moore, Devil's Slingshot with Billy Sheehan and many more.
On stage at the Bloom in Mezzago he will be accompanied by a prestigious line-up consisting of Aquiles Priester to the battery, Bjorn Englen to the bass, Nili Brosh on rhythm guitar.
Opening the Tony MacAlpine concert will be the 'Agent Cooper"progressive rock band from Atlanta.
