JOE JACKSON & TODD RUNDGREN THURSDAY AT THE CONSERVATORY

After VAN MORRISON (13 and 14 May) and VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR (11 June), this double concert of JOE JACKSON & TODD RUNDGREN will be another special opportunity to listen to quality music in the prestigious venue of the Milan Conservatory.

Two legends on the same stage, a unique tour that debuted on 30 May in Portsmouth and continued across Europe, everywhere to rave reviews. A once-in-a-lifetime occasion and an unusual combination that of the tour between JOE JACKSON and TODD RUNDGREN. Preceded on stage by ETHEL, 'four classical musicians with a few odd deviations' as they wittily call themselves (an American string quartet with some of the most diverse sound experiences in contemporary music, from the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra to the Roger Daltrey Band or Sheryl Crow), Joe and Todd individually play their greatest hits and some new compositions for almost an hour of concert time each and then reunite with Ethel for a further half hour during which fans have so far been able to hear, among other things, unexpected tributes to The Beatles (Hide Your Love Away) or George Harrison (While My Guitar Gently Weeps).

JOE JACKSONA true musical prodigy, who became a symbol of the post-punk era when LOOK SHARP, his first hit album, was released in 1979, over the years he has racked up a series of always original and innovative musical projects: the swinging JUMPIN' JIVE (1981), the sophisticated pop of NIGHT AND DAY (1982) and BODY AND SOUL (1984) and other great albums up to what Joe Jackson himself considers his masterpiece, NIGHT AND DAY II (2000). In all this variety, some musical milestones such as STEPPIN' OUT, DIFFERENT FOR GIRLS, ON THE RADIO, IS SHE REALLY GOING OUT WITH HIM, all songs that together with a few unreleased ones are offered on this tour with TODD RUNDGREN.

The latter, for his part, is no less. Composer, musician, producer, avant-gardist in many artistic fields (pioneer of the video-music era, among the first to understand the prerogatives of the use of electronics in music), Philadelphia-born TODD RUNDGREN became a true star in 1972 when he composed, performed, produced and played all the parts in the majestic SOMETHING/ANYTHING? which was followed by other masterpieces such as A WIZARD, A TRUE STAR (1973) and many others that produced memorable hits including I SAW THE LIGHT, CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS, BANG AND DRUM, HELLO IT'S ME. After about 10 years spent in between other activities (including producing albums by Patti Smith, Psychedelic Furs, XTC, Hall and Oates), in 2004 Todd finally released LIAR, a new album that was received with the utmost admiration by critics.

The double concert is bound to delight and at the same time amaze the fans of both musicians, two unique personalities who in this case are able to fuse their individual peculiarities to the best of their ability for a result that is described by many as absolutely astonishing.
