A concert of healthy rock, driven, gritty and raw. Despite his 65 years, John Cale pushed the accelerator for 80 minutes last night at the Rainbow in Milan, the second and last Italian stage of the Circus Live Tour. As announced by the former Velvet Underground, the songs that have shaped Cale's career were played, from the VU classics to his solo works. An attentive, finely rocked audience enjoyed an authentic show. Cale is still today an artist ready for experimentation, endowed with a compositional talent that has never failed over the years. There was a succession of tracks of blinding beauty, from Venus in Furs a Hush. As expected, an over-the-top concert.
