JONATHAN WILSON, RETURN TO ITALY WITH TWO SUMMER DATES

The excitement is still strong for the three splendid concerts that Jonathan Wilson has just played in Bologna, Rome and Milan as part of his theatre tour. More than two hours of music at the highest level, with virtuosity that was never an end in itself and enthralling suites that transported the large audience directly to the California of the Seventies. The eclectic singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and guitar hero will return to our country with two summer dates: 31 July in Sestri Levante (GE) at the Teatro Della Conchiglia as part of the Mojotic Festival e 1 August in Florence at the Cavea of the Nuovo Teatro dell'Opera.

With the acclaimed 'Gentle Spirit" of 2011, and with its 2013 follow-up "Fanfares', the whole world became aware of the prodigious talent of Jonathan Wilson. "Fanfares' is an ambitious production of grandiose epic rock that continues the modern, revisited reinterpretation of the "Laurel Canyon sound'. It is no coincidence that the record features, as guests, some of the key players of the Californian rock scene of the 1970s, such as Graham Nash, David Crosby e Jackson Browne.

Recorded by Wilson on analogue tape in his Fivestar Studios in Echo Park (L.A.), the record reflects the maniacal care and attention to detail that is typical of a sound craftsman. Many instruments contribute to delineate the ever-changing soundscapes, suspended between folk, progressive, psychedelia and film music of "Fanfares"strings, woodwinds, an entire orchestra in some tracks, a Steinway piano and the ever-present guitars to create intriguing virtuoso games. In the words of the Jonathan Wilson, " 'Fanfare' is a word that represents an eccentric performance, a cheeky movement of energy, a celebration of sound. Something that announces an arrival, a special occasion, and that follows no rules'. A perfect definition for his music, outside of genre classifications and codified logics.
