KAKI KING RETURNS WITH NEW 'GLOW', TOURING IN NOVEMBER

The Italian public loves her and she reciprocates. It is no mystery that Kaki King has a privileged bond with our country, with no less than 40 dates held in Italy between 2009 and 2012. A bond that is being strengthened once again with six new concerts in November, in which the Brooklyn-based artist will perform unplugged solo.

A year and a half since her last visit, the young guitarist will perform tracks from her sixth full-length 'Glow', released in October 2012, in venues suited to her unmistakable sound.

Kaki King will be the 4 November a Milan at Martinitt Theatrethe 5 November a PalermoatJolly Theatrethe 6 November aFlorenceatTender Clubthe 7 November a Rome at Blackout, l'8 November a Bologna at Locomotivthe 9 November to theApartamento Hoffman by Conegliano Veneto (TV).

A visionary and iconoclastic artist, in the ten years of her career Kaki King has redefined the role of the solo musician, exploring the different possibilities of her instrument and always looking for new solutions outside the predefined canons. Since her debut in 2002 with 'Everybody Loves You' - to date her only completely acoustic album - King has consistently subverted expectations by releasing a series of albums, each of which constitutes a genre in its own right.

A talent that has earned her recognition from many quarters, from collaborations with the likes of Timbaland and Foo Fighters, to appearances on film and TV series soundtracks, to numerous world tours in front of ever-growing audiences.

"Glow", his latest groundbreaking record released in late 2012 by Velour Music Group, defies all definitions: an evocative and exuberant collection of soundscapes, brilliant, inventive and extraordinarily inspired. Recorded with sound engineer D. James Goodwin in the bucolic climate of Isokon Studio in  Woodstock (NY), 'Glow' employs a less glossy production in favour of a fluid sound in which the artist's flair can express itself to its full potential.

From the echoes of chamber music of 'Great Round Burn' to the Celtic suggestions of 'King Pizel',  the album embraces a combination of different styles to showcase Kaki's eclectic compositional talent. Unconventional tunings, orchestral arrangements by the New York string quartet ETHEL, and unusual percussive techniques all serve the album's absolute star, the reverberating guitar.

The album, entirely instrumental, marks a sort of new beginning in the musician's artistic journey through a return to her origins, starting with the rediscovery of her symbiotic relationship with the six-string.
