THE VOICE OF VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR RETURNS TO ITALY FOR THREE SOLO CONCERTS

Peter Hammillleader of the progressive rock band Van Der Graaf Generator, returns to Italy for three unmissable dates. Three solo concerts that will stop at Miela Theatre by Trieste the 10 May 2012, at Astra Theatre by Schio (VI) l'11 May and the Music Salumeria by Milan the 13 May.
After "Thin Air"his latest solo album released in 2009 and presented to the Italian public in the same year - Peter Hammill released two important collections. The first - "PNO, GTR, VOX (LIVE)" - released in 2011 by Fie!Records, a double CD containing Hammill's live performances recorded during the Japan and UK tour. On 13 February 2012, the second collection, 'PNO, GTR, VOX BOX (LIVE)"7 CDs comprising no less than eight hours of live performances from both the previously listed tours and his other solo concerts performed around the world since 2000.

Peter Hammill's solo career began back in 1971 with the album Fool's Materecorded while the singer was still a member of Van der Graaf Generator.

To treat Hammill's solo career and that of his historic progressive band separately is a very difficult thing to do. While much of Van der Graaf Generator's material is due to Peter Hammill, the band almost always contributed to his solo albums.

But what probably makes Hammill's talent unique is the unmistakable vocal style that erupts in his live performances: an extremely wide tonal range, multiple modes of expression that enrich his introspective and melodic lyrics.

Hammill recorded numerous solo albums after Van der Graaf first disbanded in 1972. These include Nadir's Big Chance (1974), which can be considered a forerunner of punk rock. After the second break-up of Van der Graaf Generator in 1978, Hammill's personal output became even more intense. Despite the complexity of his music, in fact, Hammill is a very prolific songwriter and produces an average of one or two albums per year. And nothing stops him! In 2003, Hammill survived a heart attack. A few months later, he released the album Incoherencea disc consisting of a single large suite lasting about 42 minutes, a work for which it received in Italy the prestigious Tenco Prize.

Peter Hammill's great voice will now be featured in three new concerts.
