THE AURA: SOFT LIGHT INTERVIEW

Aura is the young home-grown promise Virgin who will release his debut album mid-year, and gave one of the first interviews of his career to barleyarts.com. Not a simple, easy-to-read interview, but a first approach to the sophisticated world of the 19-year-old from Brescia.

1. Lucio Dalla once said: 'I am not a poet. I am a singer, a decent basketball player and I can spit far, especially at pigeons.' How would you describe yourself?

Multi-function hoover on sale at a discounted price capable of producing ULTRASOUNDS worthy of a WHALE'S song. EXCELLENT for HI-FI systems and cargo ships, especially at sea covers or on BEACHES.

2. You lived two years immersed in the Californian sounds of San Francisco: what are the best things you assimilated, and the worst?

The best things: unscheduled trips, Afghan music of the seventies, santoor, dulcimera, rubab, nudity, the beat generation, soft drugs, Thailand, rap, peanut butter, berkley, flamenco, the value of friendship and also the value of... "infinocchiate" parties, alcohol, love, fear, loneliness by choice, the sun, sunsets, the ocean, BIGSUR and SEASONS-NOT-SEASONS;
Good ones: learning to clean the loo and the kitchen (without cooking though), LO jogging and LO yodelling TODD THE BUBBLEMAN, LAWRENCE, Ferlinghetti, Lawrence D'Arabia, war satire, navel-gazing about Bush, SLANG, bang POETRY slam C.O.P.s yoga, Buddhism, Taoism.
ZOROASTRISM, serratlism, Alice Walker Howard Zimm GOLDSWORTH.
JEUNET+CARO, Chinatown, Sausalito, the Etiquette (i.e.: how to learn how to use cutlery at the table), Tent Life, etc.

3. What does it mean to return to Italy after your American experience?

It means admiring that delightful exemplo de fascist architecture that is Piazza Vittoria in Brescia.

4. Since mid-December you have been testing the reaction of the public in a series of showcases in northern Italy. How is it going?

Half of the audience seems to be enjoying the show, as if they were being shot through with NUCLEAR ELECTROLYTIC RADIATION (YEAH!). The other, however, would like to stone me to death.
I take this opportunity to THANK all of Barley for the opportunity! THANK YOU! You are COURAGEOUS AS LIONS AND FURIOUS AS VOLVES!

5. What's the cover song you've always dreamt of performing in concert but never had the courage to?

'My heart will go on' by Celine Dion

6. The album will be released under the Virgin label in mid-year: can you give us some advance notice?

Some say it will be in English; others, however, shout (under their breath) 'ITALIAN!'. So, making a statistical average, there are high chances that the disc will contain tracks in ENGLISH AND ITALIAN. That's all for now. (suspense)
I await further news from my informants. Over and out. BEEEEEEP--------------------------------------------------------
