The David Munnelly Band, one of the most exciting groups on the Irish scene, and Luf, a well-known Italian band, will be at the Palasharp in Milan on Friday 9 September 2011 to bring the myth of Ireland and folk music to life for the 'Demo-Suona' audience.
After organising two editions of 'Fleadh', a festival of music, culture and gastronomy from the Celtic world, and no less than seven editions of 'Irlanda in Festa', a festival of Irish music and culture, Barley Arts, on the occasion of the Festa Democratica in Milan, re-appropriates Celtic rhythms to let the audience of 'Demo-Suona' experience a journey into the distant atmospheres of Ireland, steeped in unmistakable folk sounds and unique colours. Starring this evening will be the David Munnelly Band and Luf.
"My music reflects the rugged coastline of my origins. There is a passionate rhythm, and the same energy is in the melodies' is how he defines his music David Munnellythe Irish organ wizard, and founder of the band of the same name in 2000. With its wild and exuberant rhythms, the Irish band brings to life the freedom of the Irish coast in its melodies, and thanks to its sound, it has managed to make a name for itself internationally for the great intensity of its music, which draws its inspiration from the deepest Celtic traditions and ragtime. Current line-up: David Munnelly (accordion), Kieran Munnelly (flute, bodhran, tambourine, vocals), Paul Kelly (fiddle, mandolin), Philippe Barnes (guitar, flute), Ryan Molloy (piano) and Shauna Mullin (vocals).
I Luf, 'Lupi' in Brescian dialect, were founded in 2000 by Dario Canossa, a former member of De Sfroos. The band combines rock with tradition, also thanks to the use of instruments typical of popular music such as the violin, accordion and Lombard bagpipes. Luf's compositions always have very up-to-date lyrics, some of which are written in the Val Camonica dialect. Current line-up: Dario Canossi (guitar and vocals), Sergio "Jejo" Pontoriero (bass and vocals), Matteo Luraghi (bass and vocals), Cesare Comito (guitar and vocals), Fabio Biale (violin and vocals), Pier Zuin (bagpipes) and Sammy "Chupa" Radaelli (drums).
On 9 September, the Celtic tradition will invade the Palasharp and 'Demo-Suona' is ready to enjoy the journey.
