FORMER VOICE OF THE GATHERING ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN ANNOUNCES 'DRIVE' AND NEW TOUR

Anneke van Giersbergen returns to enchant Italian audiences with her ethereal and powerful voice. The charismatic singer-songwriter, former frontwoman of The Gathering, will arrive on 24 October on the stage of the Salumeria della Musica in Milan, where she will bring songs from her new album 'Drive', due out on 27 September.

Openingsinger Amanda Somerville's new metal project Trillium.

There are still few leaked rumours about the singer's fifth studio album. For the follow-up to 2012's 'Everything is Changing', Anneke enlisted the help of songwriter and producer Arno Krabman, and that of the band that has accompanied her live for years. 'Drive' will be preceded by a new single and video, scheduled for release on 23 August.

In a time when bands compose entire albums in front of a computer, Anneke emphasised her desire to record the album in the traditional way, in the studio with a small group of trusted collaborators: the result is an organic, compact sound that perfectly captures the band's chemistry.

After having lent her extraordinary vocal qualities to the Dutch prog-metal band The Gathering for 13 years, Anneke embarked on a solo career in 2007. Together with her new band Agua de Annique, the singer quickly gained credibility, releasing several albums that received wide public and critical acclaim. Between albums, she also finds time to collaborate with long-standing friends and colleagues, from Anathema (in the album "Falling Deeper"), to the eccentric Devin Townsend (in the albums "Addicted!" and "Epicloud"), to fellow countrymen Within Temptation (in "Black Symphony").

'Everything is Changing', released in 2012, was something of a milestone in Anneke's solo career. The album, the first not to be released under the name Agua de Annique, earned her two nominations at the Edison Awards -  the most prestigious music awards in the Netherlands  - in the 'Best Female Artist' and 'Best Album' categories. The album was followed by a triumphant tour, which brought  Anneke in over 25 different countries including the UK, Germany, France and Latin America.
