Lisa Gerrard enchanted her audience last 13 April in a splendid evening at the Conservatorio di Milano, in what was the only Italian date of the first part of the 2007 Tour. Now, just a few months later, the winner of the GOLDEN GLOBE announces its next stop in our country, the 6 November in Rome at the AMBRA JOVINELLI THEATRE.
The 1,200 people who were fortunate enough to attend her Milan concert enjoyed a performance marked by an enchanting atmosphere created by Lisa Gerrard's voice, accompanied on stage by two other musicians, one on percussion, one on piano.
Australian singer and songwriter, LISA GERRARD was, together with Brendan Perry, the mastermind of the DEAD CAN DANCEwith whom he recorded eight albums, from the eponymous first record in 1984 to the last 'Spiritchaser' in 1996. The band then split up in 1988 before returning to the scene in 2005 with a commemorative tour.
No less important and successful is her solo career, thanks to which Lisa Gerrard has earned a high-profile reputation. Her first solo album 'Mirror Pool' dates back to 1995, followed by 'Duality' in 1988, a work that marked the beginning of her collaboration with Bourke Stonesone of the greatest soundtrack composers. With him he wrote the music for the films 'Insider' and 'Ali' but it is with 'The Gladiator' (2000) that Lisa's worldwide consecration came: she won the GOLDEN GLOBE and received a nomination for the ACADEMY AWARDS. These recognitions mean that ENNIO MORRICONE contacted her to realise the music for 'Fateless' (2006) together. Despite her many prestigious film commitments, the Australian artist has continued to release impressive solo albums: 'Immortal Memory' (2004) and the latest 'The Silver Tree' (2006) while 10 February saw the release of 'The Best', the first collection of his career, entered the Top 20 of the Italian sales charts.
The Rome date will be an opportunity for Lisa to perform both Dead Can Dance classics and the big hits from her solo career.
