LORDI: ROCK MONSTERS AT 'ROCK IM RING' ON 9 JULY

Here is the name of the headliners of the next edition of Rock Im Ring, which will take place on 9 July at the Arena Ritten in Klobenstein, in the province of Bolzano: it will be Lordi, the most horrific metal band on the planet.

Lordi is a Finnish heavy metal band, known for the horror film-inspired theatrics that form the main theme of the band's image and song lyrics. The band's name is derived from the singer's nickname, Mr. Lordi. Each member is disguised as a monster and has their own nickname; for this reason, Lordi are not usually photographed without their costumes. Musically and visually, the band is particularly inspired by the 1980s heavy metal anthem of bands such as KISS, Alice Cooper, W.A.S.P. and Twisted Sister, finding similarities with GWAR from a stage point of view.
Lordi reached the general public through their participation in the 2006 Eurofestival as representatives of Finland. The event raised various criticisms both from some Finns, who would have preferred to be represented by a folk singer, and from some Greeks who would not have wanted the band in Athens. In spite of this, Lordi managed to win the 20 May 2006 final by a wide margin with the song Hard Rock Hallelujah. Also in the same year, they performed as closing artists at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Their latest album is "Babez for breakfast of 2010.
