Mika is back with a new single out today worldwide! The new song Ice Cream is available for streaming, download and radio play as of this morning. Ice Cream is a prelude to a new album and tour and promises to be the perfect soundtrack to summer 2019. Written by Mika with Dan Black and produced by Mark Crew and Dan Priddy with Dan Black, it is the first single taken from his new album to be released by Polydor / Universal Music on 4 October, entitled My Name Is Michael Holbrook.
The eclectic protagonist of an extraordinary artistic career (which has included such diverse activities as design and the participation in and production of such great television shows as Stasera CasaMika and X Factor in Italy and The Voice in France) has decided to return the focus entirely to music. Twelve years after the stellar debut of Life In Cartoon Motion which was launched by the colossal hit Grace KellyThe new project comes after 4 studio albums, 1 symphonic concert album, 1 anthology collection, 23 singles and 4 live DVDs that have earned him gold and platinum certifications in 32 countries around the world for over 10 million records sold.
The result of two years of writing in the home between Miami, London and the Tuscan countryside, My Name Is Michael Holbrook will take us on a journey to discover the essence of Mika's identity, from his birth name, through family relationships and a wealth of big and small experiences, to light-hearted moments and poignant key episodes in his life and family, as Mika himself explains: "I went in search of who I could have been if I wasn't Mika. Some artists try their hand at an artistic alter ego, from the great David Bowie with Ziggy Stardust to Beyoncé with Sasha Fierce. I did the opposite, I went to discover the man behind the artist."
While we wait to discover the new songs, the first single has arrived at the right time, in the right season, infectious and irresistibly 'up', but also with a dark and allusive side, as they are Relax, Take It Easye Lollipop and other Mika hit songs. "Ice Cream was born on a hot day last summer, at the end of a long writing process. Two years in which I was confronted with personal, serious, even painful issues, and now I feel lighter and freer. It was August, in Tuscany. I wanted to go to the sea, or escape somewhere cool. I fantasized about summer flirtations with someone super-sexy and completely out of my league, I fantasized about being the man I always wanted to be, especially in summer. Instead, I just ended up with the discomfort of the summer heat: sweat, work deadlines, bee stings, and not a breath of air conditioning. Ice Cream is a daydream fantasy. It shines like a mirage and makes me feel like anything is possible. I was inspired by the irreverent attitude of 80s-90s music, such as George Michael's. The aspiration is to become a better version of myself and be proud of it. To dare to be a sensual man, to dare to clearly express the desire I have always held in my head. This is how and why I wrote Ice Cream."
In November, Mika will take his new songs and greatest hits on tour, with a show around Europe. The Revelation Tour The Italian tour, promoted by Barley Arts, will start in London on November 10th, and will continue in Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg. The Italian tour, promoted by Barley Arts, will be divided into 12 stages in the big arenas of as many cities, a record for an international artist of great calibre.

The tour will continue in spring 2020 in the United States, Canada, South America, Japan, China and Korea. "Even the title of the tour is connected to my path of identity research and - in fact - revelation that I have undertaken in this new artistic adventure. I'm preparing a show full of surprises, strengthened by the experience and baggage acquired with my television shows, but bringing music back to the centre of everything. In Italy, then, it will be a thrill for me to travel from one end of the peninsula to the other. With Stasera CasaMika I invited you all to party at my house, this time I will come to your house. I will come knocking on your door, city by city. I hope you will welcome me".
Public pre-sales for each date of the Italian tour will be open on the three circuits Vivaticket, Ticketmaster e Ticketone from 10 a.m. on Friday 7 June.
