The name of few artists in the world is used as a synonym for an instrument and an entire musical genre, and when talking about young blues rock guitarists, the first reference is always Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Over the course of a 20-year recording career, the Louisiana guitarist established his popularity through his consistently on-demand shows, and his influence has been so great that it has revived worldwide interest in the blues. At only 16 years of age, Kenny Wayne Shepherd signed his first record deal, bursting onto the national music scene with his debut album, Ledbetter Heights (1995): a relentless tour and great success on rock radio helped to drive the album straight to platinum status. The same fortunate story happened with his second record, Trouble Is... A career studded with success, continued with The Place You're in 2004, an album with strong rock veins and the ambitious 10 Days Out in 2007, leading up to the 2010 release of the long-awaited Live! In Chicago, an album that debuted at number one on Billboard's blues chart.
Kenny Wayne ShepherdSince his early works, he has expanded his musical horizons more and more: in 2013 his project The Rides allowed him to collaborate with extraordinary musicians such as Stephen Stills and Barry Goldberg, greatly increasing the reach of his fanbase. Goin' Home (2014) is his sixth first-place debut in the Billboard Blues ChartsThe album is an exploration of Shepherd's most important musical influences and is enriched by guest appearances including Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh, Warren Haynes and many others. Five times nominated at the Grammy, two ai Blues Music Awards and two atOrville H. Gibson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd has sold millions of copies of his albums worldwide, and again this year may hold some new surprises...
