The three Italian dates of Paul Weller are getting closer and closer and more and more full of surprises. Opening at the Bologna datescheduled for Sunday 10 September at Estragon, the Siberiawhile for the stage of Tuesday 12 September at Milan's Alcatraz is confirmed as the opening act for Nic Cester And The Milano Elettrica. The second Italian date with the historic frontman of The Jam and Style Council will be Monday 11 September in Piazza delle Feste at the Porto Antico in Genoa and not in Turin as previously announced. Those who have already purchased tickets for the Turin date can choose whether to ask for a refund no later than 20 September, or they will be able to access the Genoa or Milan concerts simply by presenting themselves at the box office with the physical ticket purchased for Turin. Tickets for all stages of Paul Weller's tour can be purchased on the official circuits Ticketone e Vivaticket. Be wary of unofficial sales channels.
British singer, guitarist and composer, Paul WellerAs well as being one of the leading exponents of MOD culture, he is a veritable institution and icon in his homeland: most of his song lyrics draw inspiration from English culture. After his recording debut as frontman of the Jam in 1977 with In The CityPaul Weller founded Style Council in 1982 with keyboardist Mick Talbot to explore the boundaries of acid jazz.
After his experience with Style Council, Paul Weller's solo career began, studded with one success after another, both with the public and critics. Starting with British rock, the king of Mod went on to acid jazz and then experimented with new sounds as a solo artist, crossing over into folk, pop and even electronic and soul sounds. Paul Weller returns to Italy two years after the success of his twelfth studio album, Saturn's Pattern, a progressive album in the strictest sense of the word, which led the guitarist to differentiate himself again from his previous releases. We are sure that in the near future Paul Weller will still have some incredible surprises in store for us.
I Siberia represent the most honest combination of new wave exasperation and the sweetness of Italian songwriting. Their musical aesthetic has nothing ironic or sarcastic about it: it always remains serious, in its dramatic gloom, as well as in the momentum and happiness of the brightest moments, which are not lacking. A very young band (all born between '91 and '94) born in Livorno in 2010, Siberia boast an eminently Italian form of writing that clashes with the fact that all the band members are half foreigners.
Nic Cester, frontman of JET, one of Australia's most successful rock bands, will be in Italy with his very personal project 'Nic Cester And The Milano Elettrica". An eclectic all-Italian line-up, with two drummers and a brass section, accompanies Nic Cester on this musical adventure that debuted last April, in which the typical melody of songwriting is directed towards soul, glam and blues sounds.
Virgin Radio is media partner of Paul Weller's Italian tour.
