PHIL CAMPBELL & THE BASTARD SONS - THE HISTORIC MOTÖRHEAD GUITARIST IN CEVIO ON 26 JULY

As in previous editions, the Vallemaggia Magic Blues will be in Cevio for the last week of July for a great three days of blues and rock. For the first evening, Wednesday 26 July, one of the historic members of Motörhead, a true rock legend, will arrive: Phil Campbell accompanied by The Bastard Sons. Tickets will be available on TicketCorner.ch.

Philip Anthony Campbell, also known as Wizzö, was born in Wales to an Italian mother and Welsh father. He started playing guitar at the age of 10 and grew up listening to Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. By the age of 13 he was already playing in local pub bands and in 1979, inspired by the new wave of British heavy metal, he formed Persian Risk before joining Motörhead in 1984, with whom he released 16 albums. After the death of frontman Lemmy in 2015 and the inevitable break-up of the band, Campbell announced he was working on a solo album and recorded with a plethora of special guests, including Rob Halford, Joe Satriani and Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn. At the same time, together with former Attack! singer Neil Starr, he formed his new band, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons. The group comprises Campbell's three sons: guitarist Todd, bassist Tyla and drummer Dane. While remaining in line with old-school heavy rock, the new band's material is more stylistically diverse than that of Motörhead, mainly due to Phil's children. Their debut album, The Age of Absurdity, was released in 2018.
