QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT
POSTPONED THE RHAPSODY TOUR IN EUROPE
DUE TO THE PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
AND ANNOUNCE RESCHEDULED SHOWS FOR 2021
As a result of global measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Queen + Adam Lambert today announce with great regret that the 27 dates of the The Rhapsody Tour in Europe and the UK will be postponed. The only Italian concert scheduled for Sunday 24 May 2020 at the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna) therefore slips to Sunday 23 May 2021.
Tickets already issued are valid for the new concert. We advise those who are unable to attend the new date to sell their tickets by proxy or use the guaranteed resale platforms of the circuits Ticketone (fanSALE) e Ticketmasteror request reimbursement by voucher no later than 30 June. Please refer to the instructions on the website of the ticketing network that issued the ticket for instructions on how to submit your request.
Virgin Radio is confirmed as the official radio of the Italian show.
The 2020 tour was due to start in Italy on 24 May, and then continue with a tight itinerary that included an incredible 10 shows at London's O2 Arena as well as double dates in Manchester, Birmingham and Madrid. The decision has been made with the safety of the audience, band, crew and venue staff in mind, and with over 400,000 tickets already sold it was very difficult to make this choice.
The good news for fans is that the band has immediately rescheduled the concerts, which will take place at the same time in 2021. The postponement is a blow to the band, who recently concluded one of their most successful tours ever: six weeks in stadiums in South Korea, Japan, New Zealand and Australia, with audiences reaching 60,000 every night. The long journey also included a special appearance at the charity show Sydney Fire Fight Australiaduring which the band performed their historic 22-minute set at Live Aid and helped raise $9.5 million to support the people of Australia affected by devastating wildfires in recent months.
Addressing the fans, Brian May says "We are very sad to have to announce the relocation of our European shows, although this news may not come as a surprise to our fans, given the absurd situation around the world. The incredible scenes we saw at our concerts only a month ago now seem like a distant dream. We were really lucky to be able to finish that tour, just before this wave came over us. I know that many of our fans out there are also experiencing similar feelings of disbelief and confusion. Of course we would have played the concerts as planned if it had been possible. The good news is that we already have a plan B in place. Keep the tickets you have already bought, they will be valid for the new shows as well. God willing, we'll be there!
The drummer Roger Taylor commented on the postponement: 'We are all united in facing this situation. It is devastating, frustrating, frightening and upsetting, but, to quote Sinatra, pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down... Start all over again! Take care, we will be back as soon as we can! With love, Roger T xxx".
The singer Adam Lambert he adds: "I'm really sorry I can't tour Europe as planned, but we have to look after each other and put everyone's health first. I can't wait to get back out there as soon as everything is right."
#DontStopUsNow
Taking advantage of this announcement, the band takes the opportunity to talk about its recent #DontStopUsNow initiative, which aims to encourage fan interaction: 'Finally, a way to say thank you! You've warmed our hearts with your Queen-inspired videos from all over the world. Keep sending them in and we'll give them space on our social media! #DontStopUsNow"; "We'd like to bring the big Queen family around the globe even closer!
