THE STORY OF ONLY
In the summer of 2010, he hitchhiked from Milan with no money, a backpack, a tent, a guitar and the sole objective of sharing his happiness (playing music) in the truest and most direct way: becoming a street musician. After six months spent between France and Spain, sleeping in tents outside the cities or hosted by people he met along the way, he decided to return home and start playing in his Milan, because 'music is important, but it is equally important to share it with your loved ones'.
In the spring of 2012, Soltanto began travelling all over Italy (thanks to word-of-mouth on social networks, people helped him organise the trips, offering him board and lodging), creating a road-tour through the streets of major cities.
During these early years of busking, Matteo distributed more than 25,000 copies of cover demos on the streets (free of charge) to self-finance his expenses (now turned into the EP series 'On the Road'now in its third volume). A truly remarkable achievement that also transpires from theincessant increase in the number and interaction of fans on the various social networks (now about 25,000 in total), through which he constantly communicates his concerts around Italy, as his fans want to follow him as much as possible on the road.
This is how Matteo found himself experiencing moments of pure emotion, which inspired him to write his first songs. Like the time when he felt like the protagonist of 'Into the wild', forced to take refuge for three days in an abandoned van in the woods of Ardeche (France). Or when an old man who seemed annoyed by his music returned with a bag of stuffed sandwiches made especially for him. Or that little girl who, on a day of despair, asked him for a hug, urging him to overcome his difficulties and move on, until he published his first record of unreleased works entitled 'The Keys to My House'.made by involving more than 300 people who donated 10,000 euro through crowdfunding and went into reprint within eight months, driven by the title track whose video has surpassed 30,000 views (the Youtube channel has 150,000 total views). In the summer of 2013, Soltanto kicked off a new national road-tour on board a small camper van, passing the three hundredth performance in three years of activity.
