They have never been afraid of being scandalous, they have always pursued their ideas on sexual freedom and, above all, they have continued to write great songs: here are the The Ark by Ola Salosinger and leader of the Swedish band, now on their fourth studio album entitled Prayer of the week.
In Italy they achieved success with the very first single 'A fool to remain sanefrom the debut album 'We are the Ark' in 2000. The glam quintet immediately made a name for itself through the great quality of its sound, its ambiguous image and, thanks to a live activity that proved to be the band's real strength, reached two million copies sold in Europe alone, racking up Grammy Awards.
The success continues with the second 'In Lust we trust'dragged by the single 'Cometh you, cometh I'always oriented towards glam sounds. The third album 'State of the Ark' was released in 2005, perhaps less inspired than its predecessor. Despite this, the album will be the best-selling album in Scandinavia by the end of the year.
Now Ola Salo (vocals, piano), Japson (guitar), Martin Axen (bass), Sylvester Schlegel (drums) and newcomer Jens Andreson (keyboards) are back with a great album, which went straight to number one in the Swedish and Norwegian charts. The lead single 'The Worrying Kind' won last March's Melodifestivalenimportant national kermesse.
An over-the-top show in terms of theatricality and execution awaits Italian fans of The Ark. The choice of costumes and the cheeky attitude refer directly to the most poetic and at the same time unconventional rock of the mid 70s.
