THE MARCUS KING BAND: the young blues phenomenon in Italy for the first time!

For the first time in Italy comes the young American blues phenomenon Marcus King with his band: the date is set for Wednesday 3 May at Legend Club in Milan. Tickets will be available on the official Ticketone circuit (website and points of sale) from 10 a.m. on Friday 16 December.

Young phenom from South Carolina, Marcus King is a songwriter, guitarist, singer and bandleader who, at just 20 years old, has the musical ability and experience of a true mature bluesman. Growing up in Greenville, Marcus rattled the blues strings and his sense of rhythm from an early age, playing with his father, famed bluesman Marvin King.

Together with his band, Marcus King will be in Italy for the first time to present his new album, The Marcus King Band, released on 7 October by Fantasy Records. The project showcases King's highest qualities, his voice, his guitar style, his songwriting soul and one of the most sought-after bands in the country. With his soul-influenced psychedelic southern rock, Marcus King with the new album goes beyond the sonic textures that characterised the 2015 debut album, Soul Insight and widens its sound: The Marcus King Band captures the energy of a live show and the talent of the young singer-songwriter and is built on a dense network of influences ranging from funky to r&b to soul, with bursts of brass, a tight rhythm section and swirling idiomatic paths. Marcus King moves between different instruments, between electric and acoustic guitar and effects, and everything is driven by the groove and soul of his incendiary voice. In this adventure he is accompanied by Jack Ryan on drums and percussion, Stephen Campbell on bass, Matt Jennings on keyboard and organ, Dean Mitchell on saxophone and Justin Johnson on trumpet, trombone and backing vocals. In The Marcus King Band a large number of mentors and collaborators, including Dereck Trucks e Warren Haynes who produced the entire album, capturing the band's live sound and delivering a cohesive work that reflects the band's musical explorations. Haynes also contributed his unique slide guitar style on Virginia. With this in mind, the live show promises to be unmissable and Italy is finally ready for the Marcus King Band's melting pot of styles.
