The highly anticipated THE STROKES finally in concert! The New York band has been missing from Italy for five years, since they arrived in Turin during the tour of 'First Impression of Earth', playing in front of more than fifty thousand people. With the release of their fourth album, 'Angels', Julian Casablancas and co. are back on tour. On 12 July they will be the main protagonists of the second day of the Flippaut Festival 2011, the alternative rock response to the dance version of 4 June, the FLIPPAUT DANCE RELOAD, which will see the Chemical Brothers as headliners and whose other names will be revealed in the next few hours.
The FLIPPAUT ALTERNATIVE RELOAD will be staged at the Arena Concerti Fiera di Rho and will be the only Italian stop for The Strokes.
Already confirmed are the bands that will play before Casablancas and co. CHROMEOan authentic exclusive for this Festival, for the first time in Italy. In addition to them the VERDENAThey are the absolute protagonists of the Italian alternative scene in the year of their consecration. Opening the most indie party of the year will be the Italians ELIZABETH.
THE STROKES have released their fourth album this year, which was eagerly awaited after several rumours had cast doubt on its release. The single 'Under Cover of Darkness', which preceded the album, is already a great success and has brought back the desire for that easy-going and arrogant rock that Julian, Albert, Ryan and Nicola were able to express in a unique and original way. When in 2002 their first album "is this it" reached the second place of the best selling albums in England, THE STROKES were a young band at the beginning, a new proposal ready to say something different and in a cheeky and nonconformist way. Julian Casablancas' original, anti-school voice is the trademark of a sound based on aromatic guitars and syncopated rhythms.
In the same year, they won the NME Award for Best Album (declared album of the decade in 2009 by the same magazine) and the BRIT Award for Best International Band. "Room on Fire" in 2004 and, above all, the third album, "Fiest Impression of Earth", brought to six million copies of albums sold by The Strokes all over the world, for a success that would touch the United States, Europe and Japan.
