The Veils return to Italy to present their new album "Total Depravity (Nettwerk Music Group)on 26 August, with two new dates: Friday 21 October 2016 at the Serraglio in Milan e Saturday 22 October at Locomotiv Club in Bologna. The Veils are a New Zealand band based in London and led by frontman, singer and songwriter Finn Andrews. Recorded between Portugal (Estudios Sa da Bandeira), London (Konk Studios), Los Angeles (Casa Lynch) and New York (in El-P's studio), "Total Depravity"marks the band's comeback with producer Adam 'Atom' Greenspan e Nick Launayboth of whom are already working on the acclaimed 'Nux Vomica"from 2006. Greenspan and Launay have already collaborated on numerous projects, including Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Band Of Skulls.
The new album by The Veils sees the collaboration of frontman Andrews with El-P of Run The Jewels, following a chance meeting between the two in a bar in Los Angeles, which turned into a relationship of mutual respect and collaboration. The next day, in fact, Finn and El-P together make up "Axolotl"the first track on the disc. "The vocal was sung directly into the keyboard of a laptop and was all completed very quickly. I then began to work with the band back in London and recording songs with Atom Greenspan, some of which were then taken to El-P during breaks in Run the Jewels hefty touring schedule and then messed with them further. We were also lucky to work with Dean Hurley on one song in Ahe adds Andrews.
Written and recorded over two years, "Total Depravity"It is a multi-faceted album and each track is a story. The album cover is by Italian artist Nicola Samorì, who is known for "disfiguring" and reinterpreting famous works of art. Last but not least, Finn Andrews is in the cast of the new episodes of David Lynch's hugely popular TV series 'Twin Peaks', along with other musicians including Eddie Vedder, Trent Reznor, Sharon Van Etten and Sky Ferreira.
