After embarking on their first European tour in 25 years, which also featured them on stage at the Pistoia Blues, Steve Van Zandt and its Disciples of Soul announce three new Italian stages for the Soulfire Tour 2017: Tuesday 5 December at Alcatraz in Milan, Monday 11 December at the Gran Teatro Geox in Padua e Wednesday 13 December at the Atlantico in Rome. I tickets, of course nominal to counter the phenomenon of secondary ticketing, will be available only at Vivaticket (both online and at points of sale) starting from 10 a.m. on Tuesday 1 August.
Published last May by Universal, Soulfire is the first solo album by Van Zandt in over 20 years and is without doubt his purest and most personal artistic statement. According to Rolling Stone is one of the best albums of 2017 and sees Steven grappling with revisiting songs spanning his entire career as an artist, performer, producer, arranger and songwriter. His focus is on his approach that combines the brass of soul and the guitars of rock'n'roll and that characterised the first three albums of Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.
Declares Van ZandtI have always been very schematic and conceptual in my work. I need a theme, I can't just put together a collection of pieces, it doesn't work that way for me. In this case, me not become the concept. Who am I? At this point, I kind of constitute a separate genre. So I tried to put together some material that really represented me: there are a couple of covers, a couple of new songs, and some of the songs that I think are the best that I have written or contributed to over the years'.
