UMPHREY'S McGEE IN MILAN: THIS IS THE REPORT

Prog, rock, jazz, metal, raggae and even hip hop. No, we are not talking about the musical genres of an unlikely and eclectic festival, but just the styles expressed by a single band in a single concert: last night at Transilvania, the Umphrey's McGee showed everyone present what it means to be an all-round jam band. The American band's set list is based on songs of their own composition, but they don't give up twisting them in the name of improvisation and more or less famous quotations, for a show divided into two parts, with the first more 'classical' and the second more instinctive. The feeling with the audience was excellent, who danced and sang for the entire duration of the concert (two and a half hours). Curious was the parenthesis in which Brendan Bayliss, the band leader, taught the front rows how to clap their hands on an odd time...
