The only two concerts confirmed are Van Morrison will be held in Italy in 2008, on 10 and 11 April at the Arcimboldi Theatre, Milan. Two special evenings for an enduring artist, whose songs over the years have even surpassed his fame, a unique example of crossover between rock, blues, R'n'B, Irish folk and jazz genres.
Successes such as Gloria, Moondance, Baby Please Don't Go, Bright Side of The Road have always been in the hearts of the fans of Van 'the Man', but also in those of many young lovers of good music, who have come to know his timeless songs through the celebrations of the Woodstock Festival, of which Van Morrison was one of the absolute stars, or through the covers of chart-topping rock bands of the last decades.
The Belfast-based artist's endless discography has recently been put in order. Still On Top: The Greatest Hits (Polydor October 2007), a double album (but there is also a limited edition triple version) collecting all the greatest hits of his long career, consisting of 43 albums in 42 years of activity (among them THEM and solo career) including some true masterpieces such as ASTRAL WEEKS (his first as a soloist, 1968), MOONDANCE (1970), NO GURU, NO METHOD, NO TEACHER (1986), TOO LONG IN EXILE (1993) and some important duets and collaborations, with the Chieftains (IRISH HEARTBEAT, 1988), John Lee Hooker (THE HEALING GAME, 1997), Linda Gail Lewissister of Jerry Lee(YOU WIN AGAIN, 2000) and others.
But that's not all. The coming months hold many surprises in store for Van Morrison fans: a new studio album is expected in March (the previous one is What's Wrong With This Picture? 2004 on the Blue Note label), and from 4 February, 30 of his albums, which have been out of print for three years, will be re-released in a new remastered version with bonus tracks. All this, however, is history. While the 2 concerts that Van Morrison, accompanied on stage by an impressive band. will hold on 10 and 11 April in Italy, are topical.
