Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular, the show based on the award-winning BBC television series, will finally return to Italy after a six-year absence. With over 9 million spectators and more than 250 cities visited worldwide, the production will land in the three biggest Italian arenas - Mediolanum Forum di Assago (MI), Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno (BO) e Pala Alpitour in Turin – between March and April 2019. Sales for full-price tickets for all show reruns are open at Vivaticket, the only authorised sales circuit.
Telling us about the adventures of dinosaurs in the prehistoric arena and introducing us to them will be two Italian actors, known for their numerous theatre, television and film performances. Emanuele Vezzolia graduate of the DAMS of Rome 3 and a graduate of the Scuola d'Arte Drammatica del Small Theatre from Milan, is known for his roles on the small screen, in TV series such as I Cesaroni, Don Matteo, RIS, Distretto di Polizia and many others. Carlo Caprioli, a graduate of the 'Silvio d'Amico' National Academy of Dramatic Art, is an actor and voice actor, also known for his numerous roles in Italian TV series and for his appearances in the theatre. The two actors will juggle with the protagonists of this show as if they were storytellers who have travelled back in time and enter the everyday life of our prehistoric friends, telling us in words what dinosaurs lived like some 65 million years ago.
The production of this show you are invited to attend includes new state-of-the-art technology, reaffirming its primacy as the most important dinosaur show in the world. This most modern production will include spectacular dinosaur modifications based on the latest scientific research, such as the presence of feathers in some species. The hour and a half show shows the evolution of dinosaurs with cinematic realism: species interact with each other, carnivores evolve and begin to walk on two legs, and herbivores learn to defend themselves against their more agile predators.
Nine species will populate the stage to represent the 200 million years that dinosaurs ruled the Earth. The stars of the show will be the terrifying Tyrannosaurus Rex together with Plateosaurus and Liliensternus from the Triassic period, Stegosaurus and Allosaurus from the Jurassic period and Torosaurus and Utahraptor from the Cretaceous period. The largest of them, the Brachiosaurus, is 11 metres high and 17 metres long from nose to tail tip. It took a year and a team of 50 professionals including engineers, craftsmen, artists, painters and animatronics experts to build this impressive production.
The history of the planet is staged from the continental drift, with the arid desert of the Triassic period giving way to the lush green grasslands of the late Jurassic. Oceans are formed, volcanoes erupt, a forest burns down, right up to the impact of the giant comet that struck the Earth and caused the extinction of the dinosaurs.
Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular was originally produced in Australia by Gerry Ryan, Malcolm Cooke and Jill Bryant and saw the light of day thanks to Global Creatures.
