08/06/09: MIKA IN ACOUSTIC-THEATRE VERSION IS MORE ENTHRALLING THAN EVER

Those who were thinking of a minor concert or a restricted version of the show to which Mika has accustomed us to, he came home literally stunned because what went on Last Saturday at Franco Parenti in Milan was probably the best concert the young Anglo-Lebanese singer has ever given in Italy.
On stage with him and his piano was a full line-up with acoustic guitar, bass, drums and two backing singers, and there was no shortage of the colourful tones that usually characterise the performance: drums, wacky hats and dancing warmed up the already incandescent atmosphere of the small theatre, which was obviously packed for the occasion.
Mika starts the setlist with the song that made him a star, 'Grace Kelly'which, unlike most of the concert, is performed in a piano-and-vocal-only version. But the singer's voice is something unique, and the evening in Milan shows him in a remarkable state of grace: Mika not only sings perfectly and emotionally, but also conducts the band in an engaging and apt manner.
In addition to the other hits from his album 'Life in Cartoon Motion' (Lollipop, Hey Girl, Relax and Billy Brown) tracks from the newly released EP also arrive 'Songs for Sorrow' and some previews of its second full-length, due for release in the autumn.
Mika's acoustic show ultimately turns out to be a wonderful surprise and confirmation that international music has acquired a new star with unquestionable talent.
