17/3/10: PETER GREEN RETURNS WITH HIS 'FRIENDS' IN JUNE

After four dates last autumn, the PETER GREEN, voice and guitar of the historic Fleetwood MacAlong with him is the confirmed five-piece band that has thrilled the large audiences that have flocked to the past Italian stages.

The two summer dates in Italy will be on 25 and 26 June in Casier, in the province of Treviso, and Torrita di Siena, respectively.

The militancy of Peter Green within the Fleetwood Macwhich he himself founded in 1967 together with three other former Bluesbrakers and Jeremy Spencer, and whose name he coined, lasted only three years. Time to write some of the best pages of British blues-rock and to prove his talent, but then he began to use LSD on a massive scale, a habit that caused him mental problems that forced him to leave the band. So it was that he began to pursue less demanding projects with other artists and on his own, detoxifying both from drugs and the success that had overwhelmed him. In 1970 he released 'The End Of The Game', an album poised between jazz and psychedelic rock, which was followed by several works all marked by Green's personal style and always in the company of his inseparable 1959 Gibson Les Paul. In the 1990s he founded the Peter Green Splinter Groupwith whom he recorded nine albums.

Peter Green is still considered to be one of the most influential and talented bluesmen in music history, so much so that he has been appreciated by sacred monsters such as B. B. King.

Green is touring with the line-up Peter Green & Friendsin which he plays the role of guitarist and singer. The 'Friends' are Mike Dodd on rhythm guitar and second vocals, Geraint Watkins piano and organ, Matt Radford to the bass, Andrew Flude to the battery and Will Parnell on percussion. The set includes old Fleetwood Mac and Peter Green hits, but also a selection of blues covers.
