18/2/08: 'THE ICE CREAM MAN' JONATHAN RICHMAN IS STILL HUNGRY... AND BACK ON TOUR IN MAY

The 'ice-cream man Jonathan Richmansinger and leader of the Modern Loversreturns to Italy for two concerts on 5 May at Stazione Birra in Rome and 6 May at Casa 139 in Milan to introduce us to his latest solo album Because Her Beauty is Raw and Wild to be released in March.
Jonathan Richman, artistically linked to Boston, debuted in the early seventies as singer, guitarist and leader of the Modern Lovers, a historic garage band. The group split up in 1973 and was reborn as an acoustic project, producing the hit album 'Rock'n'roll' (1977) containing the track Egyptian Reggae a true example of experimental 'roots' music, which conquered the European charts within a few weeks.
In 1979, Richman continued as a solo artist and released a series of albums ranging from country to garage to Latin music, bringing with him a loyal group of fans. Today, his music is a jovial, Spartan folk that tells simple stories in an original way and with a passion that makes each of his records a little gem: his latest album is Because Her Beauty is Raw and Wildthe twelfth in almost twenty years of his solo career.
Known the world over for his shows that restore to music the enchanting charm of simplicity (voice, guitar and drums, nothing else), he returns two years later to our country in the company of the drummer Tommy Larkins (with him on the album) for two exceptional shows:
