23/3/11: THE HEAD AND THE HEART AS SPECIAL GUEST OF LOW ANTHEM

THE LOW ANTHEM They established themselves worldwide two years ago with their album 'Oh My God, Charlie Darwin', which was also very well received in Italy after MOJO magazine awarded them the 'best new act' prize for 2009. 'Smart Flesh', the third and newest studio work, released last February, brings the American quartet back on tour in our country for one date only, 28 March at the Salumeria della Musica in Milan.
On the same stage we will find the The Haed and The Heart (pictured) as a special guest, a brilliant Seattle-based band whose sound is rooted in folk roots while maintaining a pop spirit that makes their music fresh and original.

The Low Anthem came together during their college years in Providence, Rhode Island, as a musical trio. It was Kate Landau, daughter of the Jon who, some forty years ago, put his money on a young New Jersey songwriter with a rock soul, known to many as Bruce Springsteen, who noticed them.
Jocie Adams is the female soul of the group, and she is also the one who gives a very important imprint to the compositions, being a multi-instrumentalist with a background in classical studies. The other two historical members are frontman Ben Knox Miller and Jeff Prystowsky, who are fans of old folk records and the beat generation, so much so that in 2009 they recorded a Kerouac lyric set to music by Tom Waits. The band has only recently been joined by Mat Davidson. After working their way up through the ranks in Rhode Island bars, playing an infinite number of musical instruments, their first album, 'What The Crow Brings', was released in 2007, followed by an intense live activity, where they demonstrated all their musical skills. In 2008 came their second album 'Oh My God, Charlie Darwin', which was noticed by both the public and the specialist press.

Low Anthem are reminiscent in some ways of Wilco, Okkervil River and Fleet Foxes, and despite their traditional roots they retain an indie soul.
