Those who saw them in Milan in the intimacy of the Salumeria della Musica or those who saw them in Vigevano, on the splendid stage of 10 Giorni Suonati, will certainly return to see and hear them. The Archive, a collective formed by nine musicians, announce a new and only Italian date as part of their upcoming European tour: Friday 15 April at the New Age in Roncadein the province of Treviso.
Their last two performances in our country have left their mark. The Archive are a band born to be heard and seen live; the involvement and pathos reach very high levels during their concerts, as does the emotional tension that is then released in sessions of great sonic impact.
To categorise them in trip-hop would be reductive, although it is perhaps the definition that comes closest to their musical style. The Archive are difficult to pin down to a precise genre, and in their almost fifteen years of activity have ranged from electronic to progressive, from alternative rock to Britpop. Their last two works, 'Controlling Crowds' and the resulting Controlling Crowds Part IVThey confirm this mixing of genres, which is also due to the numerous influences from all the group's collaborators. Indeed, Archive can be identified as a kind of collective revolving around the composers and producers Darius Keeler e Danny Griffithsand consists of nine other elements including singers, musicians and arrangers. Singles and videos 'The Empty Bottle' and 'Bullets' have dragged Controlling Crowds Part IV towards cult album status, confirming the uniqueness of this project, capable of rallying masses and landing in the media in spite of an artistic proposal that does not consider the rules of the music business.
