3/3/08:WISH I HAD ANGEL! THE FUTURE OF METAL IS ALREADY THEIRS:BIG CROWD FOR NIGHTWISH IN MILAN

The chorus 'NIGHTWISH NIGHTWISH' rises up as early as 4pm on an unusually warm afternoon in early March, a climate that facilitates aggregation among the fans and counterbalances the frosty sound of what is undoubtedly one of the most important Scandinavian metal bands ever. The only Italian date of the band from Anettealready sold out for several weeks, is being experienced by the more than 4,000 fans as a big event. Many are also wandering the car parks of the Palalidodesperately searching for a ticket.
Supporters' hour strikes at 8 p.m. PAINHats off! Great performance and above all great band! Pain originated from other historical Swedish bands, such as In Flames and Hypocrisy. A tight and well-executed set, to which the audience reacted with great enthusiasm, and even the chorus 'PAIN PAIN' was not long in coming. Amongst the songs performed was a very fitting cover of Elenoir Rigby of The Beatles.
After the 50 minutes given to the special guests, at 9 p.m. the NIGHTWISH take the stage to the notes of the intro that serves as a prelude to Bye Bye Beautifuland it is immediately great energy. The celestial notes of Anette alternate with the rougher ones of the bassist Marco Hietala. Watching them live, one realises that the Scandinavian line-up is absolutely complete: there is the massive drumming of the new Zjukkathere is the true axe man style of the guitarist Empuu and especially the charisma and fundamental sound of the keyboardist Tuomas. Everything flows perfectly and the warmth of the audience is through the roof: there are many goth - girls in pure ecstasy in the front rows. Anette also proves himself at home with the old repertoire, interpreting the bani extracts from his early works in a personal and successful manner. Confirmation comes with the closing Wish I had an angelthe apotheosis of a great show.
