30/01/09: THE MEMORY OF THE GREAT JOHN MARTYN IN THE WORDS OF CLAUDIO TROTTA

In May 1979, at the age of 21 and a half, I organised Barley's first tour with a great and unfortunately misunderstood and unfortunate artist.
A quirky, generous and brilliant Scotsman capable alone on stage with his martin and his incredible pedal board full of effects and magic of playing like a full orchestra. A sincere, true man, tormented and possessed by life who sang divinely, sounded even better while composing true masterpieces that inspired generations of songwriters to come.
An artist and a man loved by so many artists more fortunate than him such as Eric Clapton and Phil Collins to name but two. Farewell john rest in peace and thank you... without you all that has happened in the thirty years since would not have happened.
