The story of Infadels began in 1999, when the rock band Balboa was born within the East London music scene. The line-up consists of guitarist Matt, drummer Al and singer Bnann. The first two have known each other since university and until then had alternated between odd jobs (such as cleaning windows at Heatrow Airport) and stints in various small bands. Bnann, on the other hand, has a past as the voice of the semi-unknown Britpop group Greenship.
The Balboa project, however, foundered not long afterwards due to the dissatisfaction of its members, who, recharged with new, fresh energy, decided to start again, to really get serious. The trio, which took the definitive name of Infadels, was joined by bassist Wag and mix and effects engineer Richie: the idea was to update the spirit of early rock (Stooges and Rolling Stones above all) with more danceable rhythms and electronic sounds with an 80s flavour.
Between October 2003 and May 2004, they released two self-produced singles, 'Leave Your Body' and 'Can't Get Enough', which soon entered the radio circuit and the playlists of clubs across the Channel. Sensing success, the Wall Of Sound label (former home of Norway's Royksopp) came forward and soon signed them.
The first fruit of the new agreement arrived in April 2005 and is the 12" "Give Yourself To Me/Reality TV", which is followed, after the summer, by the single "Jagger '67", confirming the band's ability to combine guitars and catchy rhythms in an irresistible combination capable of animating dancefloors and rock audiences alike.
Their celebrity meanwhile grows, thanks mainly to their adrenalin-fuelled, frenzied live performances that also take them to France and Belgium.
The long-awaited debut album, 'We Are Not Infadels', was released by Wall Of Sound in January 2006.
