FRANCO MUSSIDA was born in Milan in 1947. An artist who has experimented with Music and narrated it in different spheres. Parallel lives: musician, composer, teacher, philosopher-researcher. He is one of the founders of PFM - Premiata Forneria Marconi, with whom he has made dozens of albums, composed, played and sung many national and international hits, including 'Impressioni di Settembre'. Franco together with the members of his group is one of the fathers of PROGRESSIVE, not only Italian but international. He has dedicated over 57 years of his life to the group's artistic experience, more than 40 of which with PFM. He has collaborated, played with singers artists and intellectuals including: Fabrizio De André (he supervised the artistic production of De André - PFM), Lucio Battisti, Francesco Guccini, Paolo Conte, Lucio Dalla. In 1984, he founded the CPM Music Institute in Milan, one of Italy's most prestigious Popular Music Institutes. For more than thirty years, he has carried out social work and research in prisons and communities, using Music as an educational tool. Among the projects realised is 'CO2', a work in 12 Italian prisons awarded the medal of the Presidency of the Republic in 2017. Since 2012, Mussida has publicised his research on the effects of Music on emotional structure through visual art and non-fiction. In this regard, he wrote five essays between 2013 and 2020. The latest: 'Il Pianeta della Musica' (Salani Editore, 2019) and 'L'oro del Suono' (Nomos, 2021). He also designs and realises experiential exhibitions and permanent installations in prestigious museum venues in our country, including the Triennale in Milan, and the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, where he received the Lorenzo de' Medici Prize together with Anish Kapoor in 2015. His research work on the Mystery that transforms Music into emotions continues to this day in the San Vittore prison, a place he has been visiting since 1987, and in the San Patrignano community.
