The band is described as tribal rock and its very members like to identify themselves as the Celtic Folk Motörhead! I Saor Patrol have been active since 1999 and have released 12 studio albums, 3 live albums and 2 compilations. They are also famous for producing and performing tracks chosen for the soundtracks of films such as Braveheart with Mel Gibson, The Gladiator e Robin Hoodboth starring Russell Crowe. For next April they plan to release a new best of entitled The Clan's Favourites (ARC Music, 2019)The double-CD collection will contain the tracks that are dearest to the band's fans, chosen directly by them. From Gaelic, the name Saor Patrol literally means 'the freedom patrol'The band is in fact famous for being extreme champions of Scottish independence. All its members are volunteers of the The Clanranald Trust for Scotlanda non-profit organisation that takes on the task of disseminating culture and protecting Scotland's heritage through entertainment, in order to raise funds for humanitarian purposes, such as rebuilding villages.
