STAR-STUDDED CAST FOR 11 NOVEMBER CONCERT IN MILAN: EMA AND WYE OAK!!!

Friday 11 November at the Salumeria della Musica in Milan, for the first time in Italy EMA and WYE OAK.
Special Guest: Callers.

Past Life Martyred Saints, the debut album of EMA (Erika M. Anderson). EMA is a young American artist in her early twenties, born in South Dakota but who 'emigrated' physically and culturally to Los Angeles as soon as she came of age. Erika has played in punk and wave bands (including the electro-folk project the Gowns), tracing in some ways the career of young Californian indie revelations such as the No AgeIn addition, he has a mastery of the guitar that is the envy of many male colleagues.

EMA's debut attracted the attention of prestigious specialist media such as Pitchfork e Spin. 'Past Life ...' is an opener that goes straight to the heart of the audience, moving on the contrast between vocal lines and guitar, and bringing to mind Pj Harvey, Cat Power, Liz Phair, Neko Case and the angry aesthetic of the riot grrl heroines of the 1990s.

The track 'California' got her noticed by critics and audiences alike thanks to the disarming power of the lyrics and the gentle contrast with the simple guitar arpeggio. EMA is a modern poet, as stylish as a rapper and as powerful as a rocker. EMA explains her music: "Someone told me that when you're making a film, if you want to do a scene of great sweetness and beauty, you have to set it in a dirty, rainy alley. And when you want to show a terrible battle, you have to set it in a flowery valley in spring. I tried to do something like that."

For Pitchfork, Drowned in Sound, NMEthe daily newspaper the Guardian, e Rolling Stone Magazine EMA is the artist to watch out for in 2011, certain of his rise to success. Most recently, EMA took part in the 20th anniversary tribute to 'Nevermind' by the Nirvanapublished online by the editors of SPINShe reinterpreted the final ghost track 'Endless Nameless' in her own way. Also during the year, Erika M. Anderson released for the Italian label Hell, Yes! a single with a cover of Danzig's 'Soul On Fire'.

EMA is touring Europe after a long series of dates in the US, and will be in Italy for four concerts in November. EMA will appear live with a full band of four.
