DEFTONES: BACK TO ITALY

Back on the road the band from Chino Moreno, fresh from the acclaimed new album 'Saturday Night Wrist'which was enthusiastically received by trade critics. Date confirmed for the 4 April 2007 at Alcatraz in Milan.

Well-structured, haunting and evocative, the long-awaited follow-up to Deftones (2003), is seemingly melodious and incredibly harsh, fluctuating between melancholic reflections and angry frustration, like a manic depressive refusing to cure himself. "We wanted to challenge ourselves on this record," explains drummer Abe Cunningham. "It's an album that explores the whole variety of sounds and not just a simple switch from harder to lighter." 'Saturday Night Wrist' channels the most disparate elements of hard rock, heavy metal, punk, psychedelic, classical, alternative and electronic music into its tumultuous grooves. And in between, the band makes sure to insert cohesive elements to keep the music united and well blended.
"Each of us knew where we wanted to go individually," declares the guitarist Stephen Carpenter "and then, when it came time to put the pieces together, it all came together."
Last summer's concerts showed a band in top form, once again over the top within the global alternative scene.
