Emiliana Torrini, the young Icelandic artist who recently released her fourth album 'Tookah"will return to our country on 14 July in Sesto Al Reghena (PN) as part of the Sexto'Nplugged festival.
Defined by the New York Times 'a singer-songwriter of delicate strength and tangible mysticism', Emiliana Torrini has gained worldwide attention thanks to the album 'Me and Armini" (2008), which reached number 30 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart in the wake of the success of the single "Jungle Drum"#1 topped the charts in Germany, Iceland, Austria and Belgium for many weeks. The magazine SPIN praised the album, describing it as 'a velvet fist delivered with competitive flair', while 'Tookah"Emiliana's latest album released by Rough Trade in September 2013, similarly received wide critical acclaim. The NY Times called it 'an extremely balanced album', Q Magazine "warm and exciting", and All Music "natural, consistent and nuanced'.
Emiliana's songs have appeared in numerous documentaries and television series ('Grey's Anatomy', 'Castle', 'CSI: NY', 'Luther', while the song 'Gollum's Song"was composed for the soundtrack of the film "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers".
Emiliana Torrini also wrote and co-produced songs with Kylie Minogue and collaborated, among others, with Bill Callahan, Thievery Corporation, Paul Oakenfold e Steve Mason (The Beta Band).
