Below is the official statement of the band:
We are sure you are tired of reading announcements like this. When we planned our 2022 tour seven months ago, we hoped that by that time we would be in a better situation. Fortunately, things are looking up, but unfortunately, due to the current pandemic and travel and local restrictions, it's still not an ideal time to start a tour. Our 2022 spring tours in Europe and America are therefore postponed until spring 2023. We would have started earlier but the rest of this year has already been booked by artists who previously had to cancel their tours. We are extremely disappointed not to be able to see you this year, it would have been doubly rockstastic after not being able to tour in 2020, so 'we will rock you' three times in 2023. Keep your tickets, they'll be good for the new shows."
At the time of the release of the penultimate album Earth To Dorain October 2020, the Eels in fact they couldn't go back on the road because the whole world was in lockdown, but now they are finally about to explode like a swirling hurricane of goodwill and rock, not necessarily in that order.
Mark Oliver Everett aka E states: 'We have a lot of pent-up energy from all the time we spent cooped up and unable to rock. This time will be really special. We always have so much fun playing live, but it's going to be crazy. The audience will want to film everything, because we might explode."
